ALMA: 1

After a long bus ride to our opponent’s field, warmup started off slow and coaches were asking Tigers to wake up. Due to predicted storms, both Alma and Our Tigers agreed to start the game as soon as possible in attempts to avoid said storms. Alma taking advantage of our Lady Tigers moving sluggishly on the field scored quickly. The first half was winding down and with better energy our Ladies started to play their game with possession. Teslynn Ausema, left lateral mid, ran the ball up and sent it in to center where center mid, Emme Losee, settled the ball and sent it into Almas net. We were on the board. With thirteen minutes left in the first half, quick passes were being made and Nikki Tellkamp, forward, passed the ball to right lateral mid, Delaney Cronk; who was making the run into the box. Delaney, as is her style, outplayed a couple of defenders and took a shot that resulted in a goal. Emme Losee, now known to direct plays at the center of the field, set another play in motion using Delaney Cronk and Nikki Tellkamp. With great communication and passing came our third goal that was put into the net by Nikki with the assist from Delaney. Alma players visually gassed and becoming desperate were playing physical, but not anything our Lady Tigers could not manage. For a second time Delaney Cronk, with good ball control, passed the ball to Nikki Tellkamp who again put it into Alma’s net. Our defensive line now fully awake and holding strong played a crucial role in recovering control of ball and winning 50/50 balls. Sydney Higgins, left fullback, handling runs on her side with good pressing and transitions between her and Gracie Bearup. Alainna Dietz, playing right fullback, was also communicating well with center defensive player Carli Fryling. Quickly into the second half, Delaney Cronk receives ball from Nikki Tellkamp. Alma’s defensive lineup knowing the dangers sends two defenders to cover Delaney, but they could not stop her from taking the shot that got us our fifth goal. With half of the second half left, Alma was noticeably moving slower and our Lady Tigers continued to press. Second half ended with both teams visibly tired, but with our Tigers victorious.
