The Tigers traveled to Covenant Christian last night to play the Chargers in the first road game of the season. It was the opening night for Covenant Christian and the Tigers got behind early and were never able to overcome the deficit losing 49-60. "The Chargers' intensity shocked us," said Coach Delamater. "We were a little sluggish after playing last night and they took advantage of that." The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game with the Chargers out scoring Grant 16-9 and taking a 9 point lead into the locker room at halftime. The third was the best quarter for the Tigers, cutting into the lead with some inspired play from freshmen Julie Ashbaugh and Chloee Chase. "Ashbaugh and Chase took over in the third and helped bring the game back into reach, but, with the energy we were expending, I knew we would hit a wall," added Delamater. The Tigers were within striking distance in the fourth, but the Chargers knocked down key free throws to put the game away. "This was a great learning experience for us," said Delamater. "We learned a lot about who we are as a team and can definitely build on this. I especially am proud of the grit the girls showed tonight. It will be something that we come back to as we move forward." Asbaugh and Chase led the Tigers in scoring with 18 and 11 respectively and Junior Jaycee Rider added 9. Next for the Tigers is Tri-County on Friday night.
