The Grant Tigers Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Newaygo Lions tonight in a tough fought match.  In the first set, we had a slow start with several hitting and serving errors but we continued to play with confidence and fought through the errors.  Newaygo started out serving, passing, and hitting well against us.  I was proud of our girls for fighting and grinding even though things didn't start out as well as we would have liked.  Scores for each set were 23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-13.  Leaders for the match were Sara Arends and Trinity Swanson with 3 aces apiece.  Megan Wegener added 18 kills while Kayla Crater led the team in blocking with 7, Hayley Wegener had 44 assists.  We had 6 girls in double digit digs tonight, Baylee Miller, Hayley Wegener, Kassidy Doornbos, Megan Wegener, Sara Arends and leading us in digs was Kirstyn Throop with 43.  

The Tigers are now 20-14-4 and 5-1 in the league.  The next match is next Tuesday at Big Rapids, 7 PM.
