On Saturday March 27th two Grant Tigers to Lansing for the MHSAA individual regionals. Senior Caleb Thompson started fast by pinning Caden Adams from Alma in the first period. Sophomore Adrian Bouwkamp was pinned by the number 1 seed from Alma. Caleb then lost in the semifinals to the top seed Shane Cook of Whitehall by a 3-13 decision. Adrian was eliminated from the postseason in his next match against Ethan Webert of Portland. Bubba came back strong in the blood round, wrestling a tough match against Frank Bartolameou of Muskegon Catholic Central, prevailing 4-3 and punching his ticket to the State Finals! Thompson finished strong by defeating his Lakewood opponent 5-0 to claim 3rd place. Bubba will be wrestling at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo on Friday April 2nd. Grant Wrestling has now had at least one state qualifier in 12 consecutive years.
