Two Grant Tigers traveled to Ford Field for the MHSAA Individual State Finals on March 6th and 7th. Senior Billy Ostyn started out strong winning his first match in the 125lbs weight class. Sophomore Brady Jacobs lost a close match to open at 135lbs. Billy won his quartelrfinals match 15-8 to ensure a top 6 finish. Brady came back strong with a pin in the first consolation round and then winning 9-5 in the blood round to ensure his podium finish. Billy lost to his #1 ranked Dundee opponent in the Semi-finals in a match that was 2-1 going into the final minute. Both wrestlers returned Saturday after achieving All State status to compete in the placement rounds. Billy won his match by pin to move to the 3rd place match where he lost to the #3 ranked wrestler to finish in 4th place. Brady lost 1-6 to move him to the 7 place match where he lost to finish in 8th place. Billy Ostyn finishes his Grant wrestling career as the first 4 time state qualifier in school history and tied for second on the all-time career wins list with 165 victories.

The Grant Wrestling team qualified 4 individuals for regionals this past weekend. On Saturday February 15th, Fremont high school hosted the MHSAA individual districts. Senior Billy Ostyn won the 125lbs district championship upping his record to 47-0. Sophomore Brady Jacobs lost a close championship match at 135lbs to his Comstock Park opponent. Senior Joe Millett finished in 3rd place at 130lbs to qualify for regionals for his 2nd time. Sophomore Jaden Rewa moved on to regionals also with a 4th place finish at 140lbs. Kaiden Pascoe 112lbs, Chase Kazemier 145lbs, and Caleb Thompson 215lbs all lost close matches in the "blood round" coming up just short of qualifying. The 4 Tigers will compete at Lakewood High School this coming Saturday February 22nd.

On Saturday February 8th the Grant Wrestling team competed at the combined CSAA conference individual tournament hosted by Central Montcalm. 6 Tigers made the podium. Billy Ostyn pinned his Fremont oppoenent in the finals to claim the 125lbs championship. Kaiden Pascoe 112lbs, Brady Jacobs 135lbs, and Caleb Thompson 215lbs all finished runner-ups in their weight classes to also claim all-conference honors. Joe Millett 130lbs and Nolan Corvers 160lbs had 4th place finishes to claim honorable mention in the conference. The wrestling team travels to Newaygo on Wednesday February 12th for team districts.

Another historical mark was set as the Grant Wrestling team went to Fruitport on Saturday February 1st for their annual Legends individual tournament. The Tigers were led by Seniors Joe Millett who finished in the 3rd place after going 3-1 on the day and Billy Ostyn who took home the championship chart at 125lbs. Billy went 3-0 on the day and his second victory was his 150th career varsity win! Ostyn is just the 4th wrestler in Grant's history to achieve 150 career wins. Billy is undefeated on the season with a 38-0 record. Caleb Thompson finished 3rd at 215lbs and Brady Jacobs rounded out the medalists finishing 4th at a loaded and deep 135lbs weight class. Also placing were Adrian Bouwkamp at 5th at 103lbs, Jaden Rewa 5th at 140lbs, and Anthony Sparks 6th at 152lbs. The Tigers finished 7th as a team. The wrestling team travels to Tri County Wednesday February 5th for a quad against Lakeview and Kent City.

The Tigers of Grant went to Fremont for the final round of CSAA Gold conference duals. Grant opened strong by defeating their rivals to the north 53-24 over Newaygo. The Tigers then lost to #4 ranked Chippewa Hills 21-54. Going 2-0 on the night were Kaiden Pascoe 112lbs, Billy Ostyn 125 lbs, Nolan Corvers 160lbs, and Caleb Thompson 215lbs. Also picking up wins were Joe Millett 130lbs, Jaden Rewa 135lbs, Brady Jacobs 140lbs, Chase Kazemier 145lbs, and Anthony Sparks 152 lbs. The Tigers wrestling team now sits at 18-6 on the year, 4-3 in the CSAA Gold. Grant travels to the Shelby Super Duals this Saturday January 25th.

On Wednesday January 15th it was Senior Night at Grant, as they hosted Fremont in a CSAA gold conference match. #7 state ranked Fremont pulled away in the 2nd half of the dual that was tied at the halfway point to win 46-19. Seniors Billy Ostyn and Joe Millett both won their matches to lead the Tigers. Also winning were Kaiden Pascoe, Brady Jacobs, and Caleb Thompson. Both Seniors are 4 year Varsity Wrestlers for Grant. After the Senior Presentation, Grant's Competitive Cheer team treated the crowd to an amazing performance. Grant now sits at 17-4 as a team on the season, 3-2 in the CSAA gold conference. The Tigers travel to Lakeview Saturday January 18th for an individual tournament.

The Grant Wrestling team took a long trip up to Kingsley for a team tournament Saturday January 4th. The Tigers returned with a lot of medals and a team championsip plaque. The grapplers opened by beating Boyne City 57-24, then Manistee 66-12, and finished pool play by besting host Kingsley 66-18. The Tigers defeated Manton 71-12 in the first crossover match before facing Roscommon in the championship. Grant fell behind by 30 points quickly before responding by winning 8 of the last 9 matches to claim victory 48-36. Kaiden Pascoe (2 pins), Billy Ostyn (4 pins), Joe Millett (3 pins), Jaden Rewa (3 pins), Brady Jacobs (4 pins) and Caleb Thompson (4 pins) all went undefeated on the day with 5-0 records. Chase Mester (4 pins), Chase Kazemier (2 pins), and Reid Williams (3 pins) each went 4-1. Adrian Bouwkamp had 3 wins, while Anthony Sparks, Nolan Corvers, and Logan Koster each pitched in 2 victories. The Grant Wrestling team now sits at 16-3 on the year. The Tigers will host A CSAA Gold conference quad at the middle school on Wednesday January 8th. Wrestling starts at 5:30.

On Saturday December 28th the Grant Wrestling team competed at the Clipper Classic team tournament. The Tigers opened by beating Constantine B 64-6, then defeating host Martin 51-18. Grant beat Maple Valley 46-27, before losing in the pool championship to Plainwell 31-48. The Tigers defeated Watervliet 46-27 to finish in 3rd place in the tournament. Billy Ostyn (3 pins), Joe Millett (2 pins), Jaden Rewa (2 pins) and Caleb Thompson all ended the day going 5-0. Chase Mester (2 pins), Brady Jacobs (2 pins), and Reid Williams all went 4-1. Chase Kazemier (2 pins) and Kaiden Pascoe picked up 3 victories each. The wrestling team now sits at 11-3 as a team on the season and travel to Kingsley for a team tournament on Saturday January 4th.

The Grant Wrestling team took home some serious hardware from the annual Mark Bosse Memorial Tournament. Hosted by Hart High School, the Tigers took home the runner-up trophy out from the 12 team individual tournament. Leading the charge and receiving a weight class championship poster were Billy Ostyn (125 lbs), Brady Jacobs (135 lbs), and Caleb Thompson (215 lbs). Billy defeated his Fruitport opponent 3-0, Brady bested his Hart opponent 8-2, and Caleb pinned his Newaygo opponent. Kaiden Pascoe (112 lbs) brought home a silver medal, falling in the finals in a close match to the end, 5-0. Adrian Bouwkamp (103lbs) pinned his Newaygo opponent in his consolation finals match to claim 3rd place Bronze, Chase Kazemier (140 lbs) also got a pin against a Three Rivers grappler for his 3rd place finish, while Joe Millett (130 lbs) claimed a dominant 14-7 win over his Mason County Central opponent to also finish with a bronze medal. Chase Mester (119 lbs) finished 6th to round out the Tigers day. The wrestling team travels to Kingsley Saturday December 28th for a team tournament.

The Grant Wrestling team traveled to Central Montcalm for the opening of CSAA conference competition. The Tigers defeated Reed City 54-30 then claimed victory over the host Hornets 52-27. Kaiden Pascoe, Brady Jacobs, Chase Kazemier, and Nolan Corvers all had two pins for wins. Adrian Bouwkamp, Chase Mester, Billy Ostyn, and Joe Millett each had two victories apiece. Kolton Bazzett and Reid Williams each picked up a win on the night also. The Tigers are now 7-2 for the season and 2-0 in the CSAA Gold. They travel to Hart for the annual Mark Bosse Individual tournament on Saturday December 21st.

The Grant Wrestling team traveled to Kelloggsville Saturday December 14th for their annual team tournament. The Tigers started slowly falling to Grandville 30-50. Grant responded by winning their next 3 duals against Fennville 60-18, Buchanan 66-12, and host Kelloggsville 47-21. The Tigers fell to tournament champions Coopersville in a close contest till the last two bouts 30-47. Billy Ostyn (5 pins), Joe Millett (5 pins) and Brady Jacobs (4 pins) led the way with 5 wins each. Kaiden Pascoe (3 pins) and Caleb Thompson (3 pins) each had 4 victories. Adrian Bouwkamp and Jaden Rewa (2 pins) each collected 3 wins, while Chase Mester, Kolton Bazzett, and Chase Kazemier each had 2 wins and 1 pin apiece. The Wrestlers are 5-2 on the season and travel to Central Montcalm to face the Hornets and Reed City Coyotes Wednesday the 18th for a CSAA conference Quad meet.

The Grant Wrestling team traveled to Orchard View for the seaon opening duals. The Tigers defeated the host Cardinals in an exciting match that came down to the final bout 42-40, then were victorious over Ravenna 54-27. Adrian Bouwkamp (103 lbs), Kaiden Pascoe (119lbs), Billy Ostyn (125 lbs), Brady Jacobs (135 lbs), Jaden Rewa (140 lbs), and Caleb Thompson (215 lbs) each had two wins on the night. Bouwkamp's first pin of two on the night came in the last match against OV to claim victory for the Tigers. Pascoe, Ostyn, Jacobs, and Thompson also had two pins each. Joe Millett (130 lbs), Chase Kazemier (145 lbs), JaQuell Ojeda (160 lbs) and Logan Koster (171 lbs) each picked up a win on the night also. The Grant Wrestlers travel to Kelloggsville Saturday the 14th for a team tournament.
